Nestled along the Lehigh River in a lush, mountainous location between Jim Thorpe and Lehighton, Packerton Yards is a 59-acre site that can meet a variety of uses from industrial to office.
Just two miles from the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and only one exit from the Lehigh Valley, this site is ideally located.
The site is zoned for industrial use and is designated a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ). KOZ status allows for more than tax exemption... projects in designated KOZ's/KOEZ's that are approved for Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA), or Small Business Financing shall receive the lowest interest rate extended to borrowers.
Carbon County purchased the site in 2005 to help secure state and federal funding.
Packerton Yards was formerly used as a transfer station for freight cars traveling between Buffalo and New York City, and for the storage and repair of steel and spare passenger rail cars and parts.
