Carbon County has many wonderful treasures to share with you and offers numerous ways to enjoy leisure time.

The natural resources of Carbon County offer many opportunities for boating, swimming, hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, nature trails, etc. Opportunities to watch sporting events also abound.

Our area is also known for its exciting whitewater rafting opportunities on the Lehigh River, as well.

So, whether your recreational habits range from participating in extreme sports to just watching others play instead... Carbon County offers many exciting options for you and your family.

Athletics
Sports fans will be delighted to find out that Carbon County is only a short drive from many major and minor league sports teams. The close proximity to major cities such as Philadelphia and New York allows residents to enjoy the excitement of their favorite sports teams without an exhausting trip.

Baseball fans can enjoy watching the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Harrisburg Senators, the Reading Phillies and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Red Barons. If you're a football fan, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers are within driving distance, and basketball fans can enjoy the Philadelphia 76ers. For the hockey fans, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Hershey Bears and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are close by. And race fans can always enjoy a day at nearby Pocono International Raceway.
